I'm ready to fish...now about this wind
OK.....after last nights meeting, it's finally Friday and I am prepared to get up early and head out to try my new fishing skills. What is the wind supposed to be like tomorrow? I can read how much the wind will be blowing but I cannot translate that to how rough it will be out at the light house. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Is anyone else going out tomorrow from St. Marks?

Fished St. George today. Wind Blew like crazy ! All day got stronger and stronger. A few Macks, sharks and Reds and a bunch of BIG FISH break offs topped off by a MONSTER bite that pulled rod and reel over .. SPLASH ! Big fish .
First rod and reel I have lost in over 10 years . Wind blown bay not so good .

an east wind 10-15 mph will be aggrevating but not dangerous. Just use the wind to your advantage. Always start on the east side of wherever you are going to fish. Let the wind blow you to the fish. Be sure to cast downwind.
It would be helpful to have a drift sock, but if you don't have 1 it's no big deal.
If you do have 1 remeber to only throw it out when you find some fish. Otherwise you'll do a lot of slow drifting in areas w/o any fish. Good luck

GULP! free since 1970.
When you figure that out, let us know. You'll also find that the forecast is often wrong. You gotta go to get a feel for it. Just don't do anything stupid. You can always turn around and go home.QueenB wrote:I would like to order some perfect fishing weather.......where do I do that??

I love a east wind. Anywhere around the lighthouse it keeps you in the same depth of water for a good drift. The next step is finding what depth the fish are holding in.
Same goes for a west wind.
The south wind blows you straight to shore. The only advantage there is passing through various depths to find where the fish are holding.
