Sat Fishing Report

Post by QueenB »

OK.....things started out ok.....at least we thought so. Put in about 8 at St Marks. I was following a pretty large boat out with 4 or 5 men on it, I thought they looked experienced so I decided to follow them out (not to closely....thank goodness)and see if I could pick up some pointers. Before the light house, in the chanel the guy I was following hit a metal bouy! It went completely underwater........I was afraid for him but he never stopped....maybe it was part of his "normal" routine. Being the new boater/fisherman that I am, I was just glad it wasn't me hitting the bouy! Fished all day. Caught about 8 or 10 fish, only one keeper. One Spanish Mackeral 18 inches .....had it for dinner. Yummy. Every time I caught a fish I would have to look it up in a book to figure out what it was and if I could keep it. I'll be glad when I learn a little more! Can't wait to try it again tomorrow.

You go girl  .

You and Keith and the kids need to join us at St. Joe Bay for the next NFGFC tournament. Its' on May 5.
Not only will it be fun you can learn from the rest of the club members.
The bonus is there are NO bouys to hit. At least where most of us fish. :-D

Congrats. I once showed someone how to run through bars outside the channel in the dark....course, I didn't realize I was outside the channel and I guess they didn't either

QWG QB-

Stay between the barrels, and godfosake the Iron pilings marking the channel. 8 fish is a good starting point and is commendable for your first fishing voyage in you BRAND NEW boat :-D :-D :-D

Bouy attack

Post by Capt Reggie »

 Outstanding day, QB! I'm glad you didn't follow the "bouy bird-brain" pilot any further (he might have run over an oyster bar and sank you both).

I didn't grow up around here so I learned most everything about fishing this area on my own. First time fishing out of Spring Warrior fish were jumping all around me. I could not understand why none were attracted to my shrimp/cork combo. Mullet!!! That's half the fun. I envy you. Now I wish I knew half as much as I think I know about fishing this area!!! :D Good luck, and remember above all it's supposed to be fun.
If we are not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?
