I was out with Peng and Calvin for a good day on the water Saturday. The trout appeared to be pretty scattered (at least based on our results). The relatively cool water temps, 61-67, may have had a lot to do with that. We managed to scratch out 5 trout for the box. We also picked up around a half dozen blues, numerous short trout, and a couple of short cobia. I hope these baby cobes (12" and 18") are a sign that the big-uns are close behind. We threw the box at em but never found a consistent pattern or bite throughout the day. We did have a good time with the Blues and some chasing spanish until one ripped off my $8 plug. Even had the nerve to cruise by the boat with it hanging from it's mouth. Aside from the strong east winds early on which whipped all the way around to the west by the afternoon, it was a very pleasant day on the water.
The new operators at the Marina appear to be doing a good job. Saturday was a busy day and they appeared to have things in hand. It's a good operation at a reasonable cost and I'd hate to lose it.
