Buddy of mine let me ride along on his big CC Sunday and we wound up doing okay.

Bumped out in the East wind and picked up all the spanish we could handle trolling around South of the river mouth. Checked some bait traps, waited for the wind to lay down and de-twisted our trolling lines. Drone spoons and clark spoons seemed to be the ticket.

Got to a bottom fishing spot #1 and there was nothing doing. One short over the side and then I got embarassed by the resident jewfish. I had geared up for him too with 85lb PP and 80lb floro. He took my squirrelfish right into the wreck and almost broke my 5'6" standup slammer.

We went over looking for cobes to Marker 26 but none were home. Headed South to K Tower and stopped at a couple spots on the way - nothing. Got to K Tower and boated a 20 pound king on a flat line (no wire) after about four drifts.

Continued South and finally found a bottom bite. Wind had totally laid down by this point. Moon was high and the solunar table was optimistic. Put 6 grouper in the box - got rocked up several times as well.

Beer was running low so we headed back for the hill. 10 hours on the water offshore will take more than a little out of you.

Got some nice fillets and Im going to cook a ton of fish this week. My vacum sealer is broken.

Got skunked Friday and Saturday inshore out of St. Marks so I figured I would post my Sunday offshore report. As always - had a great weekend on the water.
