Delayed Fishing report- lighthouse 4/20

Post by gwheeler »

This was my first trip in my new (to me anyway) boat out at St. Marks (also the first time I put in at the fort) by myself. Found out its a lot easier with another person around . Anyhow I got out past the tripod and started trolling....no luck and it was pretty windy. Then I figured what the heck and started fishing the west flats. Water temp was 66 degrees. Wound up catching 5 short trout, some blues and 10 keeper spanish macks. Water depth was 3-8 feet. Then I had something that hit my line like a freight train and went through my leader....no idea what it was except it was BIG :o (Goodbye Mirrorlure!).I kept 2 of the macks and then spent 2 hours playing around with the GPS on the boat (gotta learn how to use it right before I start going well offshore). After that I was going to start drifting on the flats some more but the wind kicked up even worse than before and I decided to pull 'er out. All in all a nice relaxing day off from work.
Oh yeah, Tom Keels.....Kim Barber wanted me to say 'hi' from her...small world isn't it.

Yeah, you could have said something the other night. As you may know, Kim and I have spent many, many, many hours together. :-D

She told me who you were when I saw her on Friday.

Thanks Redfish....I'm lucky my wife likes to fish or just get out on the boat. Friday was just a kind of spur of the moment thing I decided to do. Usually I have her or my buddy Mark with me. I have to say it was really nice to be out by myself for a while. Tom I didn't realize that you were the 'Tom' that she knew until we were talking about the club. It was pretty funny-' Tom who? Hey, I know him'. Hopefully we can get out this weekend. I've got to work graduation with her Friday night and Saturday morning.
