LANARK 4-22-07

Post by devans850 »

Well we got in the water around 7am and headed East towards the marine lab, avoiding the sand bar that TC ran on :-D . Started fishing in 3-4ft of water with pearl white flukes. Started catching alot of shorts and then BAM. I was yelling at Erica to get the net and then it was gone :x . A few choice words on the boat and then back to fishin. Decided to put on a 7" jerk shad, that really worked good for us. Decided to run over to Dog Island after the wind calmed down to see if the fishing was any good over there. Caught a TON of shorts, but only a couple of keepers. So we ran back to another place near Lanark avoinding TC's sand bar :-D . Ended the day there with three limits of trout from 17"-23". Only landed one over 20" and ended up with 4 mackerel to 30". Myself,Erica and Brandon had a blast. By the way Brandon is legally blind and I hooked him up first thing with a jig and a cajun thunder . He throws the thing out there and then asks me where the cork is  . I realized then, that the cork situation probably is not going to work. So Brandon is now a fluke fishin fool. The water only got to 66 degrees and I lost my phone in the pond to boot :smt011 . All in all a good day, Brandon took some fish home for his family and we had fresh trout for dinner :lick:

Glad to hear you made it out. I'm headed down there Friday so I'll keep a look out for your phone. :-D Even with the loss of the phone it sounds like an outstanding day on the water.

Ya don't need any numbers, Rocket. Go to Lanark on a negative tide. Idle out the canal, turn left and hammer down. About 3/4 of a mile east of the canal you'll see a white bouy. Run to the south of the bouy. You'll find it.

Great report, I bet the young man with the seeing handicap has better instincts than we do at feeling a bite on the end of a rod.
