Icky-rough as a cob.

Post by DixieReb »

Me and Dad decided to go this morning, although 10-20 kt. winds were predicted. Wind didn't look too bad here in Moultrie so we took the Cape Craft and tried 'em. Launched at 10 am, went over toward Aucilla and found 4 reds off a bar, kept 2 up to 22''. The wind was blowing but not so bad we couldn't fish- but that was the first part of the day. About noon we went looking for trout, moved east and found 1 small mack, 2 hardheads and got cutoff by something. Went west and stopped in 6 ft. water, felt like we were getting blown off the water. The wind got up fierce and we couldn't move around much. Didn't find anything west so we went back where the cutoff was and found more hardheads, 1 small cobia, got 1 small trout and 1 good keeper trout. That was all we got on trout, they didn't bite good in all the wind, and we threw different baits trying them. But the highlight of the day was hanging the biggest shark I ever hooked and following him around for about 20 minutes. Never got a good look at him but he looked to be about 6-7 ft. long and stayed on the bottom. When he had enuff of us he made a screaming run and snapped the 12 lb. cajun line above the CT rig. He hit a new penny gulp! I think that's a good test for cajun line in case anybody wondered-good stuff. Quit at 4 pm with 2 reds, 1 trout, 1 flounder. And 2 tired fishermen. I can't remember the last time I saw it that rough. But still a good day on the pond with Dad. :smt004

The wind has been unreal for 6 weeks. Maybe it'll calm down next month.

Glad y'all got out there.
