Dog Island?

I am thinking of taking the family out to Dog Island today. While they play on the beach I was hoping to fish. Can someone tell me where the best place to launch, where I should pull up my boat at the island, and where the closest spot for decent fishing is?

Got a chart? You will need one or a chartplotting GPS.

Launch either at Lanark Village Mart or Carrabelle, Timber Island Ramp. You can beach the boat nicely at the west end of Dog Island, or at either Ballast Cove or Anchorage Cove, where the Island gets narrowest at the western end. You can trot over the 50 yds or so to the beach from there. Fishing is very good now at western end of Dog, East end of St. George, on the flats backside of Dog, on mainland side, flats from Carrabelle to the Marine lab, Dog Island Reef, beach for pompano.
