Sunday Quicky - Panacea

Post by Reel Slow »

Picked up boat Sat afternoon with new prop shaft and impeller...ouch. Got the green card for a morning off and decided to search some new territory for some reds, trout or whatever.

Searching new territory is always fun, because you don't expect to find much and when you do it is a thrill.

Anyway, not much happened at the first 5 or 6 spots I tried. You sit there fishing a spot, knowing it don't look just right, and after 5 or 10 throws, off you go hoping the next one will produce.

Then I saw what I was lookin for, broken bottom, mixed-hard bottom and mullet. My first cast brought a big strike from a overslot red that was pushing a huge wake . Over the next hour I boated 5 reds all upper or over the slot  The biggest was a respectible 29"er... yahooo..Spoon was the only successful arsenal I tried.

Tried one drift for trout and missed a good one. Marked my GPS and left em biting so I was home just the right amount of late she expects

Can't wait till next time!

Exploring is the best part to me. Catching fish is great but catching where you've never been is awesome to me.
