Icky 04/28/07

Post by Mark K »

Took my Dad and two youngest to Icky yesterday and had a great trip. We caught fish all day long - not a lot of keepers but a fun trip. We started out at our rock bass hole and my 8 yr. old put the first fish in the boat with a spanish then a rock bass. Then we all proceeded to catch a little something to add to the cooler, except for the 10 yr. old. He only managed a small pinfish. Well PePaw was picking on him about the little pin so when we got to fishing for trout Brennan (10yr old) put a whipping on us all, the four keeper trout we brought home were caught by him. Pepaw couldn't buy a trout. When the wind picked up we went in and fished for Reds. I caught a nice 23 incher and Zach (8yr old) caught a lil pup.

A couple highlights of the day happened at the rock bass hole. A small Cobia and a 20.5in. Grouper on 10lb. test with a jig. While trying to pose for a picture with the grouper I figured I'ld just lip it softly. Well that didn't work out to well - especially when he bit down. Them jokers got some sharp little teeth

Total
Maybe 10 trout - 4 keepers / CT with DOA's
10 rock bass - 1 keeper / jigs
4 spanish / jigs
3 lady fish / jigs
1 grouper / jigs
1 cobia / jigs
2 reds - 1 keeper / spoons
pinfish
