Hey hey hey St. Joe Bay

Post by Jumptrout51 »

Met Troutrent and his new bride at Presnells at 8:30 this morning. Got the scoop from Captain Fred and headed out to search for trout. Fished close to Blacks Island in a usually good spot and turned up nothing. Motored on down about a mile to some spotty bottom. As soon as we stopped the water started moving. There were at least 200 oversized reds in the school moving off to our right. Jeff quickly throws a DOA into the pod and WHAM!! immediate hookup. After a drag screaming 10 minute fight the way to big boy breaks Jeffs' 25# leader.
Couldn't find the reds again so started drifting for trout.
TT stuck with his DOA and began catching trout and mackeral. I was experimenting with everything in the tackle box without a bite.
Then I broke out the trusty GULP 7" jerkbait and the bite was on the rest of the time.
He and I boated 30 trout the biggest at 23".
Back at the ramp at 1:15. A good way to spend the day after your friends wedding.

Good day JT

Went back out about 10 AM and caught 6 reds and 2 nice trout. Sheetrock Fred may need a professional traffic cop at Pressel's soon. He was laying into some guy about blocking people and rigging his boat up at the ramp when I got there, pretty funny stuff.
