LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS ON LINE
Moderators: bman, Tom Keels, Chalk
I went through a spell several years ago, when I tried several different brands and types of mono on my baitcasters. Starting with Ande Premium 12 lb. test as a comparison base, because that's what I was using at the time, and after a lot of time, money, and aggravation, I found a line I liked.
Ande Premium 10 lb test.
Yo-Zuri Hybrid would have won, except for the price.
Now I'm back to Ande Premium 12.
I can't remember when I didn't like Trilene XL for spinning reels.
But to put all this in perspective and show how behind the times I am, I haven't even tried any of the super-lines. Partly because I'm afraid if I try it and like it, and increases my success rate, the limits might get reduced to 1 per species.

I like Ande for 25lb and up. I use 8lb and 10lb backcountry on my spinners. Some times I think I get a bad spot in the spool on the lite lines because I have a hard time getting the knots to sinch down right on the hook without breaking. I usually cut a foot or two off and I'm in good shape. Maybe I just need to re-tie more often!?

Thanks guys, I tried two new lines, P-line CXX 10# and Cajunline(RED)10#. The cajun was not virtually invisible like they say, and the P-line is tough and really hard to see in the water. The P-line has one problem, It feels like your casting baling twine. When you reel it, its so stiff, It pops the line guides.(spinning reels) On to suffix I guess.I think what Charles said has some merit! I was missin my stren today!! However , the only break off I had today on the P-line was on a way too big red I let get down in a oyster bar. Im gonna try the suffix next because Ive already bought it, but its lookin like stren's gonna win again!

8lb clear blue stren w/25lb leader. Stren is great line, but you do have to change it. buy it in bulk spool. I like the clear blue for jig-n. Watch the line where it meets the water and you can see a strike before you feel it. I use a cotton ball to ck rod guides, it will leave lil white parts on any bad guide.

If your going with Mono I think you will be very very pleased with the Suffix line as for the Braided line for bait casters Stren Super braid is the best out there in my opinion and if you'll ask One keeper, Ty One On, Chalk, JT51, Birddog, Reel slow, Tin, Erman and all the others that know me they'll tell you my opinion is right on
-----except on spinning reels I like the power pro it just seems to not get wind knots as bad but it does loose color quickly

I believe cajun is the best for spinning and Suffix for the casting. Bad Behavior has enough reels to try every kind made in one trip.
Get you a stradic 2500 mg and put cajun on it and learn to tie a double forward knot or uni knot and fish.

These have let me down:
Suffix
Pline (several variants)
Triple Fish
Stren
Berkley Big Game
AN40
Trilene
Ande
Berkley Big Game and Triple Fish have let me down the least
I'm looking to try some Gamma
I'd have to say Berkley Big Game 12lb, easy to find and priced right...I think the other lines I mentioned are good for most people, I have a bad habit called a snap cast....I have launched more mirrolures and topwater plugs into orbit than I care to remember...Several on here can attest to my problem or problems

tried many of the latest and the greatest. Troubles and disappointments.
Now all I use is Ande. Same with reels. Just use Penn now and they don't fall apart, wobble or freeze. Have a good collection of expensive junk.
