St Marks 5-3 with Dad

Post by bman »

Had some work to take care of early and then slipped out with dad about 10.
The parking lot at the Lighthouse ramp was crowded- much more than I thought it would be on a Thursday.

It was glass smooth and a wonderful morning.
First keeper trout was 17"

Then dad lost a big one... Broke the line and then threw the plug.
It floated back up and he tied it back on and kept fishing.
I was giving him a hard time and then he caught this one...

All the trout were on topwater!!

We fished till high tide at 2:30 then ran in for lunch at Riverside.

After lunch we ran back out and I threw the cast net over some pinfish to drift.
We did that for a while with a few strikes and a few cut lines.
Then caught some Spanish before heading back in...

Great day- good mess of fish and good time with Dad!

Good trip Bman

Maybe I got a poor memory, but wasn't that long ago that on a weekday afternoon, you'd see 2 or 3 boats out max. A testament to better fishing inshore around here.
