Your Prayers are Needed
Moderators: bman, Chalk, Tom Keels
I would like to thank everyone all for your prayers thus far.
This morning at 7:20am they took my niece into surgery a Sands in Jacksonville. The doctors have been waiting to operate on her until they could get the opinion of an orthopedic surgeon. They are going in to reconstruct her pelvic bones, re-construct her rotary cuff in her hip and fix her arm that was fractured in one place and broken in another place. I am not sure how long the surgery will last. They are putting off the knee surgery for now.
As a result of her actions, she will be facing possible DUI charges in Leon County. At the time of her accident, she had blood alcohol content (BAC) of 2.5 (that is over 4x the limit of being legally drunk ). Since this would be her second DUI (first one was in Ga) Under Florida laws, the penalty for this 2nd offense is not more than 12 months in Jail, and $1,000 to- $2,000 fine, mandatory drug treatment program that can count for Jail time, and a 5 year DL revocation. (If I am wrong with these laws or fines, please feel free to correct me via pm)
We have tried to get her to realize she has a drug problem for the past several years and she has consistently denied. This experience should get her attention. It is a shame that it takes life events to make someone realize he/she has a substance abuse problem.
Please pray that 1- she will make the realization that she has a substance abuse problem and 2- this series of events that are about to unfold in her life do not destroy whatever will remains of her self confidence.
Thanks Again-
MJ

I know your family is going through a tough time with all this, and it is hard to count your blessings, but thank God she didn't hurt or kill somebody else on the road. I pray for God's peace and wisdom through this time and that your neice realizes that she has a family that loves and supports her. I pray she gets the help she needs.
