There are rocks on the flats there too. You can't blaze South of the tripod, head East and think you're okay to head toward the hill on a low tide. You will meet the flats rocks starting about .75mile from the hill. Unfortunately many of the rocks out on the flats between the river mouth and Rock Island are cubic. :smt010

QB- There is another option now one has mentioned...

Use your GPS to plot a rout from the SM Bird Rack to the Econfina.
Top your fuel tank off and slip the boat in at the fort, run out to the SM Brid Rack past the last channel marker and then take a left turn and put the hammer down and run like the wind down to the Econfina (14.8 mile run from the bird rack). If I remember right you have a 4-stroke, and a good long run might do it some good, and you should be able to avoid most of the rocks if you are careful.

Just another Idea

I wouldn't do it, we use to fish that area when we had a 19 foot fiberglass Multi-species Stratos (slightly deeper than a bass boat) but when we moved up to a 22' Cape Horn Bay boat we said no more, not worth the risk. We used to make sure we had a 1 foot + tide before but did not want to risk catching the right tide with the new boat, too many rocks out there. Its ok there are no fish there anyway. :-D
