Surfers help!

Post by Redbelly »

I want to find some waterproof light for a flounder gigging rig. I want to do this so bugs won't run me off the water.
Can somebody lead me to a source?
Thanks

Wilsons Bait and Tackle, Perry.
Consist of a shade over a 12volt bulb, with water proof light socket, attached to a piece of threaded tubing. The bulb is held under the surface of the water, dosn't attract bugs cause it's under water. Powered by 12v trolling motor battery, cost for rig is about forty dollars.

When I was a kid we made one-

We took a rubber light socket like this

And put a 12 volt RV bulb in it...

Ran wire up a PVC handle and plugged it into a motorcycle battery.

we used a 5gal bucket lid as a shade- it would float just on top of the water.

I'm going to see if the old light is in the shed. Haven't used it for years but it was a great cheep floundering / crabbing light.

I liked it so much, I bought the company ;-)

I just bought one that is super bright and comes with a pvc shielded holder. I got the Magnum White 75 watt and a magnum pvc flounder light kit.

It's cheap and it works well. The styrafoam is 4" thick.
