Good day at SGI - 5/12/07

Post by reel_drag71 »

This is my first real post to this forum (besides some questions). Anyway, wanted to post some pictures from my day out on the island. Spent most of the day in my yak, paddling around the bay (first time out at SGI on the bay side). Started throwing live shrimp under CT - caught biggest trout first - great way to start the day!! Then threw out a suspend bait, and before it hit the water - BAM - my first ever red, fought him about 15 minutes - he was just under 27" - whew!! He had my PowerPro screaming. Anyway, paddled around a bit more and finally hit a nice spot where the trout seemed to be practically jumping in my yak - they were biting almost everything I threw at them. I could have ended up with 15-20 trout in a matter of about 20 minutes (if it weren't for those "regulations" - jk). All in all it was a great first day on the bay - hope you enjoy. Ended up with a mixed catch of fish : Ladyfish, a few (too many cats), 10-12 trout - 5 keeper, 1 hog trout, and 2 reds - 1 @ 15" and the keeper @ 27".

Nice...however, it is customary on first report to show baits used in picture and GPS track with x's where fish were encountered
