Put in at the Fort a little after 7:00 Saturday morning. The plan was to do some trout fishing and maybe troll for spanish and blues. Ran a little west and fished the grass flats between the river and Shell Point. Started getting bites almost immediately from spanish and small trout. Couldn't seem to get anything to hold on though. Threw everything from spinnerbaits to jigs to Mirrolures in 3-8' of water. Ended up with two keeper trout, a bunch of short trout, a good sized bluefish, and a couple of tiny spanish. The two trout were kept by one of the guys fishing with me, but the rest were allowed to swim for another day. It was a little bumpy early out past the spoil islands, but calmed down nicely as the day progressed. Good to be out on the water again. Been several months since I've gotten out.
