Saturday Morning Reds and Almost Trout

Post by Reel Slow »

Slipped Doggie Style off the trailer at 6:40 with a plan to fish reds till 9:30 and trout thereafter. My trainer is weaning me off the reds slowly

Hit old new spot and quickly landed 2 slot reds, one for the cooler then went exploring. Ran to a spot I had picked out from an aerial and it was pretty darned good. Feeling the thump thump of a red poppin a lure at a new spot is great, feeling 5 over slot reds is dang near priceless.

Landed a 28, then 27, then 30, then a really big boy latched on and ran my but all over the place. Its first run was about 30 yards....a solid 34"red. Whew. Finished out with another 28 and a 26 then a pup, then hauled buggie, it was 9:22...

Got my fix.

First drift nada, turned and began my run out to a new area when the motor shut off...trim dead....dang....Pulled motor cowling and noticed some melted plastic...not good....

Trolled in over the next hour and a half and picked up a couple decent trout 18" ers.

Replaced fuse, plastic went to melting and motor smokin....Something is shorted out....Bummer  .

Luckily if BD don't wreck his boat this weekend I've got a ride next sat

Hope to see y'all at Inky

Nice report and some awesome reds. To bad about the scout. Maybe you can get it off the DL before game time, however, I don't think there is much that could keep BD from taking that nice shiney new boat for the tourney.

I wondered what happened. I got a slow start and didn't get to the sandbar until 12:45 and nobody was there. Didn't have a rod or reel on board, just a big ole tub thingy for the youngin's to ride in. They rode that sucker for over 2 hours. I'm having withdrawal symptoms :o :-D

Good catchin.

I would rather have something mechanical than an electrical problem. Sometimes they're near impossible to trace. Hope everything works out OK.
What was I supposed to do today?
