St Marks Thu and Fri

Post by sundown »

Met up with some friends from North Ga and headed out of Shell Island yesterday morning....Pretty choppy at first but we did find some fish east of the rock garden..Both days everybody got a limit. Fish were gererally good sized for a change... The best were from water about 8-9 ft. We fished about everything with the best bite coming on straight jig heads with SWA's, gulps, and glo grubs...One was about as good as the other..
Caught a lot of shorts, ladyfish, mackeral and sea bass also..Had something going on about all the time.. One guy caught a 22" gag on a grub in less than 10'.
This morning we limited earlier..Water had calmed some so we headed directly to deeper water..Just before we started to go in, friend caught a 35" cobia on a jig and grub..
Largest trout caught was about 23"..However we had a lot of 18's and 19's. If weather had cooperated I imagine tomorrow would have been a banner day...
All in all, it was a great trip. Didn't tear anything up and caught a bunch of fish !

Well done. BD and I tested the theory that the trout weren't in close over 30 miles of shoreline. Held up pretty well
