In between closing on my new house and moving all my crap in, me and a buddy headed down to Econfina Friday morning...ran into Birddog, Reel Slow, and Sea Spot at the ramp and followed them out of the mouth...we ran East to Rock Point and worked our way West fishing in close. We caught a limit of trout in 2-3' of water around Rock Point including a nice fat 25" one on a twitch bait. As we drifted West we caught 8 or so redfish on twitchbaits and jigs in that same water column. We didn't catch a single fish on topwater lures or the TSS. We fished until around 12:30 and took it to the house. Besides the big trout, most of the others were 15-17"...we couldn't find any upper slot trout.
We fished in shallow (2-3 ft.), and caught most of our fish on twitch baits. We caught 3 spanish, 4 lady fish, 8 redfish (16"-23"), and 9 trout (15" - 25"). It was a fun day on the water.
I like the gold color of the trout in that dark water
Derrick's red
