Tropical Storms

Post by weaver brown »

Storm season began 1 June.

There was a tropical storm in May.

Does that count on the 2006 season since the 2007 season had not started yet???

Named Storm

Post by Troutinator »

Since the first one was in May, and was named, it would count in the 2007 season. The Official start of the Hurricane season for 2007 was June 1, 2007.

Hey, if a TS can start before the season is open, why can't I?

TS Zeta formed on December 30, 2005 and counted toward the 2005 season.

The only named storm to cross from one calendar year to the next, besides Zeta, was Hurricane Alice in 1954.

Tropical Storms

Maybe it's like an exhibition season or spring training. Doesn't really count toward the final standings.

The storm in may was a Sub-Tropical Storm, not a true tropical storm, but it did get a name from the list and I assume it may still count towards the total.
