St. Joe Bay Location Help

Post by dbplug »

I am going to the Cape for a week. I have some pretty good spots but would like to know where Conch Island and Palmetto Point are located.

I can't help with Palmetto, but Blacks Island is the one out there by itself and Conch is the smaller one to the right of it, just off the shore

I think you have Palmetto Point confused with Pompano Point. If so, it is close to the State Park boat launch at Eagle Harbor. Enter the park, pay the $7.00 to launch and they will give you a map. Very good trout and redfishing near popano point and conch island, good choices.

Tthanks BG, the wifes family had a place on 4th street in Mexico Beach for about 30 years, I miss that place.

Sorry to hear the bay is closed. By the way, with the small amount of rain this year, what are the chances that scallops will show up where they have not been for a couple of years? Will we be able to find them at St. Marks, Lanark?

And what the hell does my jawline tell me about my sexuality? One of you guys must have hit that link.....

db - me and mojokoko drifted freely about half a mile east of the SM bird rack Friday before memorial day as the tide turned, so we kind of went around in a huge circle over a period of about 3 hours. Without even looking for scallops, we each saw dozens of them swimming up in the water by the boat. water was a little too deep to look for them in the grass. In some spots we saw 4-5-6 at a time just swimming up to the surface. I'd say they are abundant out there, at least for now

By the way, we have a camp site at the St Joe Bay park for 4th of July, and we could use some good fishing spots as well - prefer garmin .mps file if anyone has one since I'm lazy about punching in numbers, but I'll take what ya got
