Anybody catch fish yesterday? St.Marks 6/9/07

Post by Nathan »

Put in at the Fort about 9:30 yesterday morning. Got started late after a long night Friday. Ran out and fished the west flats for awhile without any bites other than pinfish. Headed east in search of some trout but didn't do much better. Water was still pretty clear. Some floating grass, but not too bad. Fished over scattered grass and rock in 3-6' of water. Pulled out around 4:30 with plans to do a little maintenance on the boat. Ended up the day with 1/2 dozen 14-14.5" trout, a couple ladyfish, a saltwater cat, and a 3' black tip. Hopefully others out did better than I did. Chatter on the radio sounded pretty slim.

Trout bite seemed a little slow for us as well. Did manage 3 keepers early.

Put in right, after TC. at the Fort around 6:00am. Came off the water at 11:00 am with my limit on Trout. Home at noon. Wish I my partner with me, could have easily taken two limits...

Sounds like I should have gotten out there earlier. The original plan was to go pretty early, but unfortunately I stayed up till 1:30 the night before helping a friend put up curtains and hang pictures in her new house in town. That sun was something fierce about mid-day as well. Put sunscreen on twice and still managed to get a little red in the face. Left my hat in the truck so that didn't help either.
