I'm not sure I can give you any significant help with fishing but... if the places are still operating, make sure you have breakfast and lunch at the farmers market   :lick: and dinner at Smitty's.

I use to stay at the Robert E Lee on the river and see folks pull off the road just before going over the bridge to wade out and throw cast nets for mullet. Also would see folks crab'n off the Hotel deck there. I know there's some spots along the road on the way to Pine Island (North of Ft Myers). Also, Sanibel Island isn't terribly far and there's lots of beach where you could fish or shell. Also, again (you can tell what I did the most ) There used to be a restaurant on Sanibel called the "Mucky Duck". If it's still there you gotta check that out. They have some giant beer battered shrimp that'l make you go down the road talking to your self :lick: Have a good time...wish I was there :D
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".

The causeway going out to Sanibel/Captiva is great for trout. There is lots of parking and lots of wadeable areas. Live shrimp is great. There is a bai shop right next to the Punta Rassa boat ramp. I believe it's cvalled The Bait Shack. Good luck....

The New Pass bridge going from the south end of Estero Island which is FT. Myers Beach toward Bonita Beach. Go over the bridge and then to the left side of the road. Follow the trail back through the woods and you will come to a little bay with a channel that runs through the middle. There is a bar out in the middle. You may have to swim maybe 10 feet to get to the bar but once you are out there fish the mangroves on the other side of the bar on incoming tide any live bait or plastics will do for snook and reds.
