St Marks Lighthouse Area Friday June 22

Post by Fisherman989 »

Started our about 0730 over toward the Rock Garden...Ocean side. We started off pretty good with Gulp...streight lining..white...new penny and of all colors...root beer. We had to go out a long ways to get into anything decent....wound up in 10 foot water.
Water temp. was 80.6 degrees...and it was almost too rough to be that far out. It didn.t quite whitecap but we had some big rollers that would really throw the boat around.
There were some big critters out that deep too. We caught 2 sharks and the buddy boat (Dixie Rebel) hung into one they had to chase...saw him twice...est 200 lbs....biggggg...before he cut through a 50lb mono leader and got off.
All in all a good day on the flats. Wound up with 10 trout, 1 shark, 1 blue in our boat. Other boat got 7 trout, 1 blue, 1 sail cat. Many throw backs too.
