Spring Creek 6/24/07

Post by Eerman »

Fishing was slow but somewhat productive. Managed 5 trout, 3 reds, a blue, and enough snot cats to fill the boat. Almost everything (including the cats) were caught on topwater. Off the water before 1. Bummer of the day was a fat trout that I tried to pick up cause I was too lazy to get the net. I got my hand on her belly, she flipped me the bird, broke the line and away she went. I'm guessing 24"...about 4lbs. Oh well, would have let her go anyway. Good day...nothing broke.

Things wouldn't leave it alone long enough to catch anything else. Two went over 5lbs on the Boga. Never seen cats hit hardbaits that hard and frequently. :-?

I may need to go try that - My wife loves catching them because they bite quickly and pull like a bull. I hate the slime- but they are fun to catch.

We got into them off Apalachicola a couple of years ago on top water.
They were so aggressive - chasing the lure down.

I too like their pull. :D I always hold the line and keep them outside the boat on the gunnel and take my long pliers and work them off the hook. I don't likes the slime. :x

Is the spring running now? I might like to launch there to get that frshwater run.
