Wakulla County Sheriff's Office tells us a couple has been killed in a boating accident on Lake Ellen in Wakulla County near Medart.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating.

My dad told me about this last night. The lady that was killed was the wife of a co-worker of my dad. He also hunts with us and is a great guy. Many prayers for both sets of family that were involved. :smt010 :smt009

I would think that the husband had been notified but I don't know 100% and I don't know the other partys name. I know the lady her husband and two daughters (12 and 16 I think) lived in perry. When or if I find out more I will let ya'll know. Hard times for both families.

Authorities have confirmed that two people have been killed in an accident on Lake Ellen in Crawfordville, Fl.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says 46-year-old Zoe Stoyer and 14-year-old Sarah Pomeroy are dead. Both are from Perry, Florida.

They were on a large commercial type inner tube being pulled by a personal watercraft yesterday. From what authorities can tell, the driver of the watercraft made a sharp turn and the two victims hit a dock.


They died from their injuries. Wildlife officers are investigating.

I cringed when I read the news story. I had something like this happen to me several years back. I had been on the lake up in Douglas pulling the twins one at a time on a tube behind the jetski. After each ride, I would kinda swing them in toward shore and they would stop 10 or 15 feet from shore. I had it worked out just right. Then they both decided to get on the tube at the same time. After the ride around the lake a couple of times, I proceeded to swing them in to shore like the other times. The extra weight of two of them made the tube take off toward shore, and slammed them into the other Jetski parked on shore. I was VERY fortunate that they were just scared and not hurt......

I will NEVER do that again.

I once also saw this same thing at Ocklochnee State park where a boat was pulling a tube and swung the tube in front of another boat. Luckily, the other boat evaded hitting them.....

I can only imagine how this driver is feeling. I felt like crap for a whole day, and no one even got hurt.....

My thoughts and prayers go out to the families....

IF PEOPLE WOULD KNOW AND ABIDE WITH THE LAW, THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO STAY AT LEAST 100 FROM ANY DOCK OR STATIONARY OBJECT WHEN SKIING, TUBING OR JUST RIDING IF YOU ARE GOING OVER IDLE SPEED.
