Apalach 7.5
After spending the 4th with the wives @ CIS, me and a friend of mine decided to try some new water over around Apalach. I had heard some good things about the area and was looking forward to see some new ground. We hit the ramp about 7 and ran across the bay to our starting point. Right away I was not really happy with what I saw, or rather what I didn't see, but hey we were here and we were gonna try it. Tried top water for about the first 15 min. and finally gave up because of the floating grass. Switched over to a spoon and played connect the dots with what good looking bottom there was to be found. Finally got blood in the boat with a 21" red. I staked out and waited for the area to calm down some to work it over good. No more takers there so we moved on down the line. Got on the down wind side of a shallow flat where the grass wasn't so bad and got a few short strikes on the top water. Boated a 18 and a 19" Red w/in about 10min of each other and decided I had had enough. I think we caught every red that was within casting distance to us today. Just not alot of life out there today. The wind and the tide were opposed so not alot of water moving. It was 11:30 or so and it was time to take it to the hill. We had 2 good eating size reds for diner
and the wives were waiting on us to set up the tent down at the beach

Glad you got to go- sorry about the lack of action.
The inlaws just left 8am Eastern- so now maybe I'll get to go after a fish.

That's what I'd say was the issue with Chalk's report as well -as opposed to the post full moon feeding times.Barhopr wrote:The wind and the tide were opposed so not alot of water moving.
You both found some though and the rest of us get to learn from the report. Thanks
