Stopped at Lanark on the way to explore the area a bit. Found several areas with structure in depths of 30' - 50', all within sight of land.
Excitement for the day was when I threw into a school of feeding fish and fought a 10+ lb bonita for about 20 minutes on light spinning tackle. Thank goodness for that braided line. I had to tighten up the drag pretty good to keep from getting spooled. A breakoff would have cost me an almost new $5 rapala. I'll need new treble hooks.
Had a couple of live pinfish and cut up strips of the bonita. Fished both at several of the spots where I found structure. They got chewed on pretty good but no quality fish.
Stopped off in 6' on my way back in and got a couple of decent trout for me and the wife to eat
With dinner and some good spots to try later, the day was a success. Hotter than hades by the time I left. Lots of boats on the water and at the ramp but everyone was competent and courteous.
