GAS/ETHANOL BLEND IN OUTBOARDS

Post by DAWG FAN »

Has anyone had any problems running 10% ethanol gas in their outboads?
Me and a friend were headed out of KEaton Saturday morning and his engine slung a rod. He is checking around trying to decide if he should repair or replace and has several mechanics ask him if he was running gas with ethanol. I googled "ethanol in outboard engines" and several articles came up dicussing the problem with the ethanol. This has me a little worried due to the fact that a lot of stations are selling gas now with up to 10% ethnaol blended in.

heard it assorbs water and causes alot of rust in older tanks...as far as running, newer outboards are supposed to be ok, but have to drain or change filters alot.
