Have been away from the flats for some time. was wondering what is a good economical rod and spinning reel to use for reds and trout and the other one might run into. also what line, like test # and manufacturer. Thanks in advance! DS

economical -

I'd go with a Redbone rod and Shimano Sahara reel, spooled with 10lb Power Pro. Whole thing should be less than a 100 bucks and you'll be able to tackle anything inshore with a nice set up.

Go to Crum's mini mall in Panacea :thumbup: they have hundreds of rigs starting around 24.95 on up to $1900.00 :o I have 4 of there 29.95 Diawa rigs with 14# test and haven't lost a fish yet "due to the pole or reel anyhow" :-D
