Thankfully, I didn't cancel my trip because of the dire weather forecast for today (Showers and thunderstorms-60% chance of rain, severe weather forecast by NWS), and picked up the Mechele in Carrabelle and trailered to Mashes Sands. Plotted a course for Gray Mare, and zipped across the bay. Weather was cloudy, wind light out of the NW, cooler than yesterday. Arrived at scallop central and anchored the boat among many others. Wow! Loaded, and my daughter and I filled our bags in about a half hour and took them to the boat. Had twice our bag limit, so we hailed a nearby boat and gave 4 gallons away. A light drizzle began to fall, but no lightning and no real rain clouds.
Saddled up, and returned to Mashes no problem. No rain on the way back anywhere. Using Mashes avoids the crazed boat ramps at the Lighthouse and at St. Marks. Mashes was in use, but no problems at all. After returning the boat to it's Carrabelle home, stopped at the Two Als and had some lunch. Back to Tally, and slugged through our two gallons of scallops for about a quart of meat. Its not the meat, its the fun factor, clearly.
Nice day with my daughter, fun time, no stress. So glad I went.
