I headed to the boat ramp around 0630 after stopping and getting fuel...didn't even bother with ice
I have pictures on my phone, but can't figure out how to get them off.
I moved to another spot and found plenty of trout for the taking...I caught 5 real quick with three being keepers....I had redfish on my mind, so I moved on.
Next spot provided numerous shots at reds with the long pole...I was to late with the delivery, they saw me or weren't interested, except one....It came crashing through some grass like a big dog...I flipped the fly in it's path and it didn't see it...I stayed with it...flipped the fly to the fish again (within 8 foot of the boat)...it turns, it's tracking the toad...it gets within 2 inches of the fly and it looks up and I read his lips...the red said "oh sheet." And left me trembling with adrenaline and my mouth wide open...that was awesome
Ended up seeing several more redfish and a lot of nice trout in less than 2 foot of water.
Moved onto a new spot…I have been wanting to try this spot for a year or two, just never made it this far from the ramp. I see a red with in a few minutes of arriving there…I was rejected again….see another and it chased after the spoon but misses it….see several more reds…widgeon grass was bad and keep fouling my lure….I kept after them and finally locked into a nice fatty….It makes a run for the grassline…I think if it goes in there it will break me off…so I thumb the spool and lock it down and hold the fish off the grassline…finally got the fish to the boat and it was 28â€
