But wasn't always  Sure less likely to encourage a newbie to participate. I know the reason I came on was because this forum was different than the rest. Great information, courtesy extended, no flames but entertaining jabs now and then. no inside communication that only 3 or 4 are in on. Less of a difference anymore but that's just one grumpy old man's opinion.

Now, I guess I am still a newbie, been here less than a year, but here is my take on it; I would have been here a lot sooner but I didn't know it even existed till about a year ago. I still post on FS as well as other forums but now consider this as home. As a newbie I didn't feel unwelcomed at all, just the opposite most folks said  or :smt006. etc... still do for the most part. The problem with some of the other sites is that a majority of the folks there don't even fish, or very much, yet they seem to always have negative comments on others reports, yet post little to no information of their own. As far as a few folks getting together with inside information...isn't that what it's all about? A few buddies getting together and swapping stories and info on there favorite pastime. I try to keep in mind that this is all just entertainment, and don't take it too seriuosly.

Can't fault the site or the members if friendships are made.

Bud,

Where did that quote come from? Was it posted in a recent thread? just trying to get some context around the dissatisfaction that it appears you and some others may be experiencing. You know, find the source of the issue before contemplating remedies.

I don't know where that quote came from, but its not about a place that I recognise.

Some of us have been around this site for quite a while and it is a place of friendship and knowledgeable sportspeople.
I don't see that equating to, " cheesy self satisfaction and waste of time".

I would be interested in who made that statement, before I gave any credence to their opinion.

Exactly what Chalk was shooting for when he typed it. Humor. I thought it was quite amusing.

My comments and post were not directed at Chalk. There's both humor and truth in what he says. Chalk, if you are offended, or if anyone interpreted my comments as directed negatively towards Chalk, I apologize. And no, I haven't had a drink yet.

If Chalk put that on his signature, or something similar, as a joke, then thats fine.
I couldn't see it being a serious comment by anyone.

I've gone through a couple weeks of writers block. I think I was depressed about my last TeamSeatrout showing. All that's behind me now. Looking at the future.
My REAL trout catching partner will be back.

P.S. I think I've been edited.
