Reggie, I'll play. Have a boat if necessary, but probably not one of the nicer ones listed. Moderate/little experience and a St. Croix 8 weight.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

:-D No worries. It might be easier to push the Bonefisher around anyway

I've got a few extra rods/reels you can try out. It might give you an idea of what you might want to buy. My favorite this month is my Tibor Backcountry Wide (great little drag) and a special little rod that you will have to see to believe. It blows my Sage rplx away and at a fraction of its cost. Don't buy anything until you get to throw this thing.

I've also got a custom 9wt that throws a line very well. My brother has had his eye on it for a while. The Lamson Litespeeds are wonderful also. Zero maintenance and very light.

blah, blah, blah. I'll stop now

A. Anybody have any ideas as to when & where we can all (or most of us) get together in the next few weeks for a trial run on this? I'm thinking a weekend will be easier on most folks!
B. Does anybody on the list especially want to fish with another person on the list? Otherwise, I'm thinking about randomly mixing experienced with inexperienced or some experienced!
C. Our next NFGFC meeting is 8/16 - shall we make any firm decisions after that meeting? This will allow me to meet with club members on the list!
D. I still need a volunteer to help me put this thing together? :email: me!!!

I have a boat; but no experience with the fly rod.

If the list isn't complete then I'd like to give it a try.

Thanks.

Believe it or not, it's a BPS extreme 8wt. BUT, it's an 8'8" model, not the 9ft model. I don't care for the 9ft stick, but the shorter rod is a whole different animal, and its only $169. I can throw this rod in a 15-20mph wind like nobody's business. It launches a line.

In fact, I liked it sooo much that I bought a 10wt from them that is 8'10". I took 5 different rods out, including Sage, St Croix and TFO brands. I threw the BPS rod at least 10-15yds past the closest competitor. It was a natural fit for me.

Ever since I bought it, the Sage and another custom rod have been sitting in my office collecting dust.
