Econfina 8/4

Post by dawghouse1 »

Put the boat in around 7 and headed west to try and catch a red or two. Fished for an hour or so with no love so we headed out to try the trout. We stayed in about 10' until a little after lunch where we caught 8 keepers to 21", probably 50 shorts, 3 rock bass, and the 2 biggest stinking ladyfish I've seen. At low tide we headed in to pick up some scallops where we got a mess after a couple of stops. The scallops are probably twice as big as the ones we got at the beginning of the season. The weather was unbelievably comfortable for August with the clouds keeping the sun hidden all day. The boys wanted to know on the way home when we were going fishing again. Hope that's where their interest stays for the next 15 years.

DH-we had similar Saturdays. I launched about an hour before you and started down river in the dark. Started fishing in <2' without much luck. Moved out to 4-5' and caught several slot trout, some shorts, a lady and baby shark. We went a little ways west and collected a couple gallons of scallops in just under 20 minutes then headed for the hill around 1.

Good looking hat your got for your boy there.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.
