Night fishing the flats?

Post by Linework »

In light of the recent heat wave, I was wondering if fishing at night was any good? I've been told that the bite is real good at sunset, but slowed down after dark. I used to fish Lake Jackson at night, and the fishing was great! Sure do miss that pond :(

Fishing any time is "GOOD". Go and get you some

NITE FISHIN THE FLATS

Post by FUTCHCAIRO »

WE HAVE DONE REALLY GOOD ON NITE FISHIN THE FLATS. WE GENERALLY FISH ON THE MOON. FROM THE FIRST QUARTER TO FULL MOON AND FROM FULL MOON TO THE THIRD QUARTER. I HAVE NOT FISHED THE FLATS ON DARK NIGHTS BUT HAVE FISHED LAKES ON DARK NIGHTS AND ALWAYS DONE GOOD. WE USE ALMOST ANY PLUG THAT MAKES A LOT OF NOISE, BUZZ BAITS WORK GOOD, PLUGS WITH SPINNERS ON BOTH ENDS, LOUD POPPERS. WE FISH THE PLUGS VERY FAST AND THAT SEEMS TO BE THE WAY TO GET THE FISH ATTENTION. I TRIED FISHING THE PLUGS SLOW BUT DID NOT DO AS GOOD AS FAST.

We were out till past dark the other night and left the trout biting. Night fishing the flats is the best to me. I like using the Zara Spook when there is a really good moon. An "old timer" was telling me the other day that he has been going out at 3-4:00am and tearing them up. His idea is that the water has had all night to cool down and is an ideal temp really early like that. Seems to work by all the pictures he showed me :o
