Ammo disposal

Post by RodBow »

I have some old 303, 308, 22 and assorted shotgun shells.

The buckshot I can make split shot out of - on a rainy day, if I had patience I guess I could drill a hole through the center of the bullets to make bullet sinkers but life is still too exciting to do that kind of stuff.

How does one dispose of this stuff?

This is not a suggestion- Just a funny memory.

Years ago my dad had me clean out our shed.
There was a ton of old crap- too much for the trash man.
So I built a fire and started chucking stuff in...
Old leaky waders, newspapers and a few boxes of crap.
It was burning down well and all of a sudden
BAM- BAM.....

Unknowingly, I had thrown in an old box of shotgun shells :o
luckily they had melted and all we got over the next half an hour was a random POW. :D

Thank goodness there wasn't Rifle or Handgun ammo!!

Most gunshops have a facility to take old , unwanted ammunition (well they do over here).

I have been known to accidentally drop bullets into deep water.

Rodbow I'd be glad to take the .308 ammo off your hands. Shoot me a PM if this is possible

David - call Kevin's -- there was an event set up for some Saturday soon (maybe past) for collecting old ammo there. They will know about it at the store.
