Put in at 6:30 at the lighthouse. Already hot and humid. Got a few blow-ups on topwater early but didn't hook up. Stayed close to some huge schools of mullet and eventually got three redfish, all about 20" and a nice 20" trout. Caught two of the redfish on a gold spoon and the other redfish and the trout on a jerk bait. Also got out my cast net and got 10 fat mullet on a couple of tosses.
There were as many mullet as I've seen in a long time. There was even a guy out there trying to give mullet away cause he had so many.
Met up with a friend and his two sons mid-morning and left them fishing cut mullet on the bottom near some oyster bars. While I was visiting, they had three redfish hookups and their line failed them every single time
Loaded the boat back up around noon and like someone said in another post, it was like fishing on the surface of the sun by then.
Just had me some fried mullet. I honestly think they're about as good as any fish out there when same-day fresh.
