St. Mark's 8/11

Post by Ron Wilson »

Tough day of fishing. Went East towards Peter's and Grey Mare. Fished from 4' to around 12'. Threw a lot at 'em. Caught several short trout and only one keeper. Probably should have moved around a little more and tried some different areas, but we kept putting shorts in the boat and were hoping there would be some keepers mixed in.

Got to St. Mark's too late to register for the tourney (almost glad; saved me some embarrassment at the scales), but did make it to see the results. Looked like a good turn out and some nice fish.

Yep. It seems like every time Dave (you met him yesterday) goes out in this boat with me, we get beat pretty good. He's been kicking me for trading in the Key West for a shallower boat; I was kicking myself yesterday.

22' Triton, wind , late for the weigh in, we got beat too. Biggest waves Ive ever seen @ Ecky when the wind wasnt howling. Some three footers out deep.

Weather report said winds out of the SW at 5-10. Felt a little stronger than 5-10. :-?

I didn't see any 3'ers, but Katie and I did take a whopping. We launched out of Icky and ran my 17' aluminum bass boat all the way to Grey Mare. Took some good spray over the bow in the process.

Ya'll should have gone to Carrabelle, just a nice drift breeze all day.
Oh yeah, and lots of fish.

Ouch! That's dog-piling right there, and I think there's penalties for that. True, but dog-piling nonetheless.
