St Marks 8/26/07

Post by QueenB »

We were first at St Marks this morning! It kinda worried me, I thought maybe everyone knew something I didn't and they were staying away on purpose. Took my nephew and his new Bride (married 3 weeks ago) out for their first flats fishing trip. I just wanted them to enjoy catching some fish. Went east a good ways out towards the rock garden and immediately started catching fish. We caught lots of short trout but our guests didn't seem to mind as long as they were catching something. We ended the day with two nice keeper trout and 4 good size rock bass. (would have been 5 but I bragged too much about how big my fish was before I got him in the boat and right at the boat....you know the rest of the story) The amazing part of the day, not one lady fish! We were back on land before 11. The water was flat today, which makes it nice when you have guests. Everything caught on gulp and slurp. Good morning on the water even with the threatening weather, at least it kept it cooler! I can't wait for the next trip!!
