Good day out of St Marks: SAT 08SEP07
My buddy Dave and I had the boat in the water at sunrise. Ran down from the Fort towards the flats/creeks. The first area we fished was really slow with the occasional bite, so we headed farther down the coast in search of new territory. Along the way we managed to catch a sheepshead, flounder and then we got into the trout. We had around 11 in the boat at the end of the day. Mostly shorts with a few keepers. The most enjoyable part was finding a pack of reds as we were wrapping up the day. We had 5 in the boat in the span of 45 minutes or so ( one double hook up as well, a good sign). The average size was 20-21" with one small one at 17" and the largest at 23". We were off the water at around 4:00 with some fish in the cooler (let all of the reds go) and a good day behind us. I am still new to fishing the St Marks area, and this is the first time I have managed to get into a good quantity of fish. The area definitely holds some potential... Before I had been fishing west of Panacea, mainly Alligator Harbor, Turkey Point, O. Bay etc.

Here are a few pictures from the day.
The first two reds we caught. We caught more but it's kind of hard to stop and take pictures when the bite is on. Note the scallop flotilla in the background.

Little shark that ate the pinfish I was trying to catch a nice red or trout with. The funny thing is we caught 1 pinfish with Redfish Magic spinner and another with a Catch2000.

Keep of the day. We released all of the reds that were caught. I fried the sheepshead last night and it is probably one of the best tasting fish I have eaten.

Another fun day on the water
