St. Marks to Alligator Point 9/16

Post by gwheeler »

We had a late start and put in at the Fort at about 11:00 a.m., it was nice to see that the crowds were not there. Ran out towards alligator point and noticed some birds diving and something was slashing through a HUGE ball of bait fish. Started trolling around the bait ball with a MACK-Attack and a red/white plug. 5 seconds after we had the lures out and we had a double hookup of huge ladyfish. As my wife and I brought them up to the boat they were folowed by the entire school of 'em. We caught ladyfish for about 20 minutes. Changed lures to a deeper diving variety and put them out, the water was about 17-23 feet deep. We started pulling in blues and my wife pulled up a nice king :o along with more ladyfish. All in all we hooked about 20 ladyfish, 9 blues and 2 kings. It was one of the best trolling days I've ever had out in the bay :D .

Sounds like fun...hope you have a boat wash down system so you could wash all that lady fish poop off of the poop deck :smt005

Yep, I have a raw water wash and it got used a lot! I still wound up with some stains that I'm going to have to work on :( . Makes me wonder what the heck those things are eating besides other fish. Any recommendations on a good stain cleaner that won't remove my gel coat?
