Florida Big Ben Flyfishers

Post by Capt Reggie »

:smt006 Hello out there fly fishermen. Just a reminder from TallyFly and I that the FBBF club meets tonight at Beef O'Brady's on Thomasville Road...meeting starts at 7 p.m.! Welcome to all old and new members, inexperienced or experienced in fly fishing. This is a family affair, so bring the ladies and little ones. This is our first meeting in four months and we have a lot to discuss, so come on down! :smt007

How many showed up?
What was the topic?
Who was the speaker?
Did you give door prizes?
When is the next meeting?
Any tournaments scheduled?
How much are the club dues?
P.S. Isn't Big Ben a clock in England?
WHOSE FISH IS IT?

:smt006 7 die hard fly fishermen showed up and 4 renewed their membership to FBBF and the FFF

Fly Fishing For Beginners
was the topic of discussion (a presentation given by Gerald Bell and myself) 8)

No door prizes - next time we may raffle off some equipment

Monday, October 22 is the suggested meeting date but that has NOT been approved by the President as yet.

No tournaments right now as the club is concentrating on scheduling the following activities: (1) Fly Casting Clinics & FFF Instructor Certifications. (2) Fly Tying Sessions. (3) Fly Rod Building Classes. (4) And, Fly Fishing Classes :email:Capt. Reggie for further details

There are exciting times ahead for our fly fishing club as the President and I are aggressively pursuing ideas to bring fun-filled activities for our members to enjoy doing in conjunction with one another and other clubs, including the NFGFC! :lick:

Membership to the FBBF club is $50.00, for individuals - that includes a membership with the Federation of Fly Fishermen (FFF) and our club is a Chapter Member :D

TallyFly and I will keep members here abreast of future details involving the FBBF and FFF (read our newsletter) in case any of you out there wish to join our organization!

:smt009 Yes, it is sad that Mike Teal had to close down the Big Bend Fly Shop. Now the only place that I know of in Tallahassee to purchase fly fishing equipment and fly tying materials is Kevins. Otherwise, those of us that fly fish and tie flies will just have to order from the numerous catalogs and web sites available to us - not a bad deal. Those of us still active in the FBBF club (and the FFF) will continue to try and bring together as many fly fishers as possible in our area to enjoy this sport fishing activity. Gerald and I hope to see some of you fly fishing out on our waters very soon - like the up and coming tournament! 8)

I am a supporter of buying local in most, but not this case. Last time I was in that place I felt like I was putting them out. Also, they have squadoosh for materials. I'll wait to get over to Destin or buy online.
