Freshwater Minn Kota in saltwater

Post by Wadey »

I have a freshwater Minn Kota which has come with a boat I bought, I will be using the boat in fresh and saltwater what damage will the saltwater do to the motor, I don't wan't to get a saltwater motor if this one will last a little while! I could trade it against a saltwater version, but is it worth it?
trade- in prices I find are not worth the trouble!
What are your views please?

You'll get a year or 2 out of it. Maybe more but I wouldn't count on it.

I have used mine in a lot of salt for over 5 years now  but it will not last much longer now :smt010 I have had to replace all of the switches twice, build a new bottom for the foot control and sand down, clean and repaint the motor twice also :o still cheaper than a new one though
