Who's your (auto) TOW company?
I had a wonderful experience today with the tow man.
OK OK, I know it was my fault mostly.
I heard some weird noise this morning as I slowed down to turn in to work at 6:30. It was kinda like a bwang or twang from the r front side of the van. I thought it might be the fan belt..no, everything kept working ok. maybe a tierod, no I could still stear... maybe.. well for a '93 full size conversion van it still seemed ok. I came home for lunch and on the way back I heard..well it wasn't a flat tire, but when I looked I had three intact lugs (with the bolts) so the answer was that one of the 4 remaining bolts had busted that morning (I knew one was gone already). Well, my wife had me run to the CVS for some emergency poster board that I then headed to the school with. Long story shorter - 2 more busted! That's right, here's the math - I started with 4, popped 1 on the way to work (that made 3), then 2 more dissapeared with only the sheared off studs showing (leaving 1). So I parked it on the median of one of the well groomed Southwood roadways and thought that after work I'd gather up what I needed to perform roadside service, but I've been paying for that on the insurance for years, SO I called the tow company instead. This was at 3:45. The co-owner, call taker said 45 to an hour.
It's now 9:30 and I haven't seen or heard from them.
Their call back number says something like "due to compliments of Alltel, you can't reach us". So at 7:25 I called Parkway and the van was home and under the carport in under an hour.
Lesson learned - even though I'd like to throw business to the small guy known as "Professionals You Can Count On", the big boys came through this time.
Not even a call back - that's sorry IMO.

I won't ride you to hard, but after the second one popped, you should have parked it THEN.
You have no idea how dangerous it was doing what you did. If that tire had come off, you could have been killed, or even worse killed someone. (Like a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk.)

Rodbow... I think what the concern should be in your situation is WHY the first one broke. You may very well have had some sort of loose fit or wobble in that wheel that cause the first break and then because the wheel was placed under continued use the pressure on the remaining studs became more than the design was meant to handle. I sure wouldn't recommend traveling on a wheel that was busting lugs/studs even if the remaining ones are distributed in what appears to be a logical manner. I'd have serious concerns about putting that same wheel back into service until I had it checked out. Glad no body was hurt

Just a tad harsh dude!
Not everyone has the in-site to realize the lurking danger of a popped lug nut like you do.
I have never heard of such and therefore would suspect a defect worthy of true concern.
Tow truck operators are tough to come by when you need them.
That's why us Georgia folks tote a logging chain come-along and have buddies with 4 wheel drive trucks with super swamper tires jacked up about sky high on a ten inch lift kit.
The Beatles said all you need is love I guess DT ain't got none for your troubles.

I like that one!!!!!!! and if you will allow me to use it at sometime other than on you wevans. I agree with the safety information, but how many times do you have one lug fall off, and then two more. RodBow I think you did the proper thing when you found out what was going on to stop. Just be thankful you were not in NASCAR and the happened doing 180mph, along with the fines and penalties for driving with 3 lugs less.
