9/28 St. Marks--first fishing trip

Post by reel therapy »

My youngest son, Mason, just turned 3 and he has been asking to go fishing for some time now. So after dropping the older two at school we made a run for it. Put in at Shields around 11 and headed out just east of the lighthouse.

He managed a handfull of small trout using small hooks under a small bobber and small pieces of gulp.

I couldn't convince him to hold the fish.

Back at Shields by 1:30, which got us home in time for a nap.

He hasn't stopped talking about it.

That's awesome RT - way to go! Hope you took a bunch of pictures.

Try giving the kid bigger line, bigger hooks and bigger pieces of *gulp*!

I went fishing with my bro and 3 yr old nephew Memorial Day and the boy got a keeper red (barely over 18") and a small jack on his spider man pole with a little casting help from daddy and lots of encouragement that the fish could not in fact pull him off the beach in to the water. We gave him some 10lb line, a small weight, and a whole live shrimp.

He likes catching the little crappie in the backyard, but ever since he caught that redfish he's been wanderin up to dear ole dad with his fishin hat and crocs on at all hours, which makes it easier to avoid guilt tripping from the wife provided he's willing to take the boy with him

Great report!
Mookbait! At least 401 times better than live bait!

He who have signature line make bigger post.
