First fall trip-Keaton 9-27

Post by DixieReb »

Finally got to fish some, tried Keaton Thursday. Went out on rising tide about 11 am, surprised how much water there was 2 hrs. after a minus low tide. Started at the Keaton bird rack toward channel and got into fish right off. Got 2 keeper trout and 3 keeper bass, lots of shorts on each species. After too many shorts, moved over to Adams Beach about 1:30. Got another keeper trout and more shorts, small shark and buddy lost something up close to the bank that fought like a red-never saw the fish.
Finished up in front of Yates Creek area and got 2 real nice trout, 18'' and 20''. Colored gold all over, puurrrtty fish! :D Ended up with 5 keeper trout, 3 bass. Caught everything on white gulp, mostly the 4'' ones under CT rig. Floating grass was bad all day and made fishing straight almost impossible. We tried green curlytail grubs and got zip, even tried live pins and struck out. Very unusual, I've always been able to get fish on live pins. The fish were scattered, had to work for them but it was still fun and beat the heck out of werk'in! :smt004 On the way back, crossed the Econfina out side of Perry and noted water in the creek. Crossed the Aucilla outside Lamont and it almost looked dry, could walk on the rocks and cross it. What's that about?
