Any advice on fishing off Dog Island around Carrabelle? Good spots you're willing to share? Places to stay away from if you've never taken a boat there before? I'm planning a quick weekend trip there the last weekend in October.

I'd like to try for trout, redfish and flounder--don't know that area at all, particularly sandbars that might be problems for the boat. Thanks for any tips you can give.

As long as we don't get a deluge of rain in the next week the water will be clear enough for you to see any obstacles. No oysterbars around the island. The shallowest spots are at the tips of both ends of the island and right along the beaches. The flats on the back side on the west end would be my choice for trout and reds. Fish in and around the grass patches and the docks. The spanish were thick in the pass and on Dog Island reef last weekend.

A live pinfish or pilchard on the bottom in the pass should get you a huge bull red. We caught 2 just offshore about 30 pounds each last weekend.
